Rocky Mountain National Park
We would like to go back some day and spend more time on the eastern side where there are more lakes, streams and waterfalls that are easily viewed. We really enjoyed the time we spent up there though and saw some of the most beautiful scenery either of us had ever seen. We walked along several trails and drove along the Trail Ridge Road. This road goes way up into the mountains and is only open about 4 or 5 months a year. When we were there, the park service was setting 10-12 foot tall poles a long the roadside, so in the winter, park rangers would know where the road was when it snowed. The drive around trail ridge road is fascinating. It goes higher than the tree line, and in many areas, there are no shoulders to the road. It is a pretty strange feeling to be driving and not being able to see the ground if you look out the passenger side window! You've never seen so many people hug the center line as you do the people driving on the edge that drops off. While in the park, we walked numerous trails and saw many different forms of wildlife. Unlike other pages of this web site, we are going to spread this attraction out. We spent a lot of time there so to learn more, check out Trails and Wildlife. Both pages are have quite a few pictures on them so they will load slower than most pages. We tried to minimize download time so it shouldn't take too long, but may take longer than normal. Here is the official site of the park from the National Park Service: www.nps.gov/romo
