St. Louis Zoo

A trip to St. Louis would not be complete without a trip to the zoo.  It is a very nice zoo and best of all it is one of the few zoos in the country where admission is free!  We didn't have a lot of time - just a couple of hours, but since the price is right we thought it would be fun to check things out a little bit anyway.  Unfortunately for us, it was the hottest day we were there - somewhere around 95 degrees and really humid.

Sun Bear at the St. Louis Zoo

That made the zoo a little bit miserable. Stacie didn't like the heat at all and didn't have the best time there.  St. Louis can be mighty warm in the middle of July and the humidity can be a killer.  This Sun Bear wasn't looking too excited about the sunshine that day and was probably ready to shed some fur.

The zoo has many wonderful exhibits and is laid out pretty well.  They have a lot of bears and also have a pretty nice reptile house.  They are always looking to improve on the zoo and have something in construction.  There are many educational opportunities to learn about the animals and their habitats.  The zoo tries very hard to educate visitors on the hundreds of species of animals that are there.
