Sea World
We really enjoyed our day at Sea
World. It was a relaxing day and we got to see and learn
about all kinds of ocean and fresh water animals. One of our
favorite attractions were the two Shamu shows we saw. It is
an amazing show by the killer whales and their trainers.
Jungle Jack Hannah teaches you about killer whales on the Shamu
vision as part of the show as well. |
 |
Going through Sea World is similar to going to a zoo, except most of
the animals live in the water. Stacie was able to touch a dolphin in
Dolphin Cove and both of us touched sting rays. The Wild Arctic
exhibit was really cool. You start by taking a helicopter simulator
ride through the arctic. After the ride, you get to walk through
several exhibits including white whales, polar bears, humongous walruses
and several species of playful penguins.
 |
Terrors of the Deep includes several
species of dangerous critters including eels, barracuda, and many
different kinds of sharks. The exhibit includes the world's
largest underwater tunnel, allowing you to see some of these
fantastic animals swimming above your head! |
Bob and a shark engage in a stare
down. |
For people who enjoy amusement park rides, Sea World has a couple of
those as well. There is a water ride called Journey to Atlantis and
the roller coaster Kracken, a ride which takes you underground.
There are several shows to enjoy. In addition
to the Shamu show, there is a water skiing competition/show, false
killer whale show, pet show and the hilarious Clyde and Seamore
Take Pirate Island Show. All of the shows are from 15-30
minutes long. If you go during regular season times (see
website) they do a huge fireworks presentation at the end of the
day. |

Recommendations
- If you like zoos, you should go to Sea World. It's a zoo with
animals you do not normally see
- Check the schedule of shows right away and plan your day
accordingly. Many times the shows overlap, so pick the shows you
want to see.
- The hot dogs were kind of expensive ($4.50 each), but they were
really big and probably the best hot dog either of us had ever
had.
