Lewis and Clark Monument and Scenic Overlook
While driving around late one afternoon, we stumbled across the Lewis
and Clark Monument and Scenic Overlook. Bob being a big history buff
and being particularly interested in the Lewis and Clark story, we had to
stop. It was a quiet little place on top of the bluffs with a
beautiful look over the Missouri River and over to Omaha. We stayed
for about a half an hour, just taking in the spectacular view and taking
some pictures. Council Bluffs was named for the first council
between Lewis and Clark and the Native Americans. It was held near
Fort Atkinson, Nebraska. The name Council Bluffs comes from this
"Council on the Bluffs".
Here are a couple of pictures we took using the camera timer and
tripod.
