Milwaukee County Zoo
We went to the Milwaukee County Zoo on a day in which there was
periodic light rain and drizzle. Despite getting wet once in awhile,
we still had a good time. The zoo is open 365 days a year, so
it should be easy to find time in your schedule for this one. |

The zoo had just opened Wolf Woods, a large, natural area for timber
wolves. The area has a nice boardwalk to walk on to see into the
exhibit and to see other areas of the zoo from as well. There was
quite a bit of information on the wolves at the beginning of the boardwalk
in a sheltered area.

When we were there, there was an interesting
exhibit on dinosaurs. There were many authentic dinosaur bones
and quite a few life-sized replica skeletons to demonstrate the size
of some dinosaurs. The head on one of the dinos was over six
feet long. Standing next to it added perspective at how big
they really were. |
There were many hands on activities to learn more about the reptiles
there as well. They also had many of the dinosaurs that were created
for the movie Jurassic Park. They looked very real! It was a
temporary exhibit, but we're sure the zoo rotates many other cool
exhibits in also. |

We really enjoyed the Milwaukee County Zoo. It is obvious they
continue to put a lot of work, time, money and effort into making the zoo
more enjoyable, not only for the people, but the animals who now live
there.
