We traveled to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for a short vacation on July 15-19, 1999.  This trip, more than others involved moving around more.

Marina in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

We spent a couple of days in Milwaukee, but we also spent a couple of days in the Wisconsin Dells area and stopped in Dubuque, Iowa on the way home to see the Crystal Cave.  Bob had traveled into Wisconsin several times during his youth, but Stacie had never been there.

Marina in Milwaukee.

We were looking for a fairly low budget vacation and neither of us had a lot of time to take so we thought we would go to Wisconsin and see some of the sites.  Overall it was a pretty good trip.  We had a lot of fun at the House on the Rocks and Noah's Ark Water Park.  We had fun in Milwaukee, but we probably should have done a better job of planning what we wanted to do before we got there.

We knew we wanted to go to a Brewers game and the zoo, but that was about it.  We spent some time driving around town and walked around by the marina.  We got confused (or lost) a couple of times, which was a little frustrating.  We didn't stop to ask for directions, because we didn't know where we were going most of the time to get directions to.  We also would have been well served to have made hotel reservations ahead of time since we were in town for the weekend, during the summer when there was a festival going on.  We had a little bit of trouble, but eventually got a room at a Super 8 for a very reasonable rate.

Overall, it was a good trip.  There are a lot of things to see and do in southern Wisconsin.  We only saw a few of them, but what we saw was pretty cool.
