Other Attractions

We did see a few other attractions while we were there.  Here is some information on some of the others.

Anastasia Island Lighthouse

Lighthouse at St. Augustine Beach
The lighthouse on Anastasia Island is beautiful.  Unfortunately for us, we were there when they decided to paint the inside and had it closed for a week.  We were still able to see the museum associated with the light keepers house, but we really wanted to go to the top of the lighthouse.  It's 219 steps up and the view is supposed to be awesome.

3-D World

We went to 3-D World in part because it was open later than most attractions.  Many of the historical sites close at 5:00 p.m., but this was open until 7:00 or 8:00.  We paid to see both 3-D movies and the fountain show.  Total cost was $10 per person.  The 3-D movies are a motion ride and last a total of about 20 minutes and were pretty cool.  The fountains last about 15 minutes and weren't really worth seeing in our humble opinions.  There's only so much you can do with squirting water.  For more information, visit their web site at: www.3dworldstaugustine.com

San Sebastian Winery

The San Sebastian Winery is a fairly new addition to the St. Augustine area, being founded in 1996.  The tour and wine tasting is free.  Florida doesn't have the best climate for grapes used in traditional wines, but a lot of research and testing led to some pretty good wines being created from Muscadine grapes.  They offer several varieties of wines including Port and Cream Sherry.  Our favorite was the Reserva.  To learn more about the winery or if you would like to order some of their wines, visit their web site at: www.sansebastianwinery.com

Anastasia Island State Park

Anastasia Island State Park is a fairly small park.  We had a picnic lunch there one day and spent an evening doing a little bird watching.  There are a number of activities available there though including camping, picnic areas, nature trail, fishing and swimming.

Additional info.

There are many, many other things to see and do in St. Augustine if you want.  We certainly could have found attractions to do and see for another week.  For information on other attractions in the area, visit www.oldcity.com.
