Duluth Restaurants

Since we were only there for a short time, we didn't get to experience a lot of the local cuisine, but we did find a couple of places we really liked.

Blackwoods Grill

Partially because it was super close to where we were staying and partially because it looked like a good place to go, we went to the Blackwoods Grill and Bar for supper on Friday night and Sunday brunch.  They served a wide variety of food including steaks, seafood and pastas.  The Sunday brunch was excellent, although a little pricey.  It was $15 per person for a buffet brunch, (which is the only thing you can get Sunday mornings) but it was the biggest brunch buffet we've ever seen.  Neither of us had ever had ribs for breakfast, but they were really good.  For more information, visit their web site at: www.blackwoodsrestaurants.com

Fitger's Brewhouse and Grill

On Saturday evening, we had supper at Fitger's Brewhouse and Grill.  Excellent bar food and their beer is excellent.  Unfortunately, you could only buy their beer there and had to drink it there.  They don't bottle it or sell it retail.  Bummer.  They brewery is located in the Fitger's complex containing many other stores and eating establishments.  There are also many displays featuring relics from the brewery's past.  For more information, visit their web site at: www.brewhouse.net

Big Apple Bagels

We had rolls and cappuccino on Saturday morning at a convenience store that had a bagel shop inside.  We can't remember the name, but it was located across the street from the Blackwoods Grill and Bar and right beside a Perkins.  The cool thing about it, (in addition to the good bagels and rolls) was a window seat gave you a great view of Lake Superior.

Green Mill

Excellent restaurant in Canal Park.  We visited here on our 2001 trip.  According to their menu, they have the best pizza in Duluth.  We didn't find out, but all four of us really liked our meal.  Stacie and Cheryl had pasta dishes, John had steak and Bob had walleye.  Nice place, nice atmosphere, dozens of beer on tap and reasonable prices.

Other Places to Try

We haven't had a chance to try these places yet, but they look real good. Grandma's Restaurants, Old Chicago, Little Willy's.  There are many other places in Duluth that are not chain restaurants that look good.  Our suggestion is to try some of these places that you can't go to elsewhere.
